How do I upload photos to my profile?
Adding photos on ClubRochester.com is easy. From the
"View Your Profile" page you can add your picture in the yellow area on the left hand side.
In the Primary Picture area, click
the "Browse" button and select your picture from
your computer. Please note that only .jpg pictures are allowed.
If your picture is a bitmap, .gif or other format it will
NOT be accepted. If your photo is a .jpg and it's file size
is less then 250k simply click "upload" and allow
a couple minutes for the file to be uploaded.
You can also make your picture only available to certain users by clicking the "Make This Picture
Private" button before uploading. If you do this, only those people you add to your "Private List" will be able to see your
picture.
I tried to upload a picture and all I see is a blank
image with a X in the corner. What did I do
wrong?
The image upload feature only accepts JPEG images
(.jpg). If you have a
picture of yourself that is a .bmp, .gif, or some
other file you will need to
convert it to a .jpg file before uploading. If you
are not sure how to do
this, send an email to datemaster@clubrocheter.com
with your picture
attached and we can upload it for you. Be sure to
include your Nickname, Email
Address, and Password!
How do I edit my profile?
We at ClubRochester.com realize that from time to time you
may wish to modify your profile. Changing your ad is easy.
Click the "Edit Your Profile" button. You will be taken
to an edit profile screen which will display all the information
you currently have in your ad. Change the fields that you
wish and then click the "Update" button at the bottom
of the screen. Your profile will then be updated and you're
ready to go!
How do I look for other people and send them a message?
To send another member a personal message from the "Search The Club"
feature is easy. This will bring up a screen
in which you can enter the parameters with which you wish
to search. After you have made your selections, click on "
Search ClubRochester". If you already know the screen name of the person
you wish to search for enter it into the lower box and then
click on the "Search ClubRochester" button.
When you find a person you wish to
send a
message to you can click on the "Send Me A Message" button
from their profile page. Please note that you have to send
your message from this screen. You can't use your default
e-mail program such as outlook express to send mail.
Once
you select the send message option from the view profile a
message box is opened and you can then type your message at
this time. Once you've completed typing your message click
the "Send" button and your message will be sent.
Once a message is sent ClubRochester.com then sends that member
an email informing them that they have received a message
from you and directs them to log in to retrieve it.
I'm an AOL user, and during the signup process I cannot click on the link in the email you
sent to me. How do I continue?
AOL's email client does not convert a web address to a clickable link. Therefore, you will need to
take Cut and Paste the URL provided into a web browser window. It looks something like this:
http://clubrochester.com/members/guestsignup.html?email_address=you@aol.com
In the example above, the 'you@aol.com' at the end would be replaced with your email address. You can Cut and Paste the
web address by highlighting the entire address and then hitting Ctrl+C (To Cut) and then Ctrl+V (To
Paste) into a browser address window.
How does the MultiMail feature work?
The hardest part of being a single at a dating site is making
the first contact. Instead of hoping that someone will stumble
across your profile, MultiMail allows members to send you
a message based on what they are looking for. And because
they selected what matches your profile, you already know
that you have something in common! This can be an invaluable
tool for those that have trouble connecting with other singles
online.
- Full members of ClubRochester may begin sending MultiMail
letters each day. This allows you send a message to several
members who are either currently online or who are listed
in the results of a detailed search.
To use the MultiMail feature simply click on the "Send A MultiMail"
button from your member page. This will bring you to the MultiMail
page. From there select the categories in the drop down fields
which define who it is you are interested in contacting then
enter your message in the message box. When finished, click
on the send message button to send your message.
Do I have to have my profile online in order to browse others?
Yes. In order to provide a quality service, we require that everyone
viewing profiles is also honestly looking for other people. With that said,
we require that your profile is available for other people to view at all
times. In the event you no longer want to be a member of ClubRochester.com,
you can "Delete" your profile in your members login area.
How do I delete/downgrade my account?
For security reasons, Club Rochester staff cannot delete an account on your behalf. To delete your
account from
ClubRochester.com go to the
Members Area and click on "Edit Your Profile". At the
bottom of the edit profile page click on the "Permanently Delete My
Profile" button. This will delete your entire account from Club Rochester and you will no
longer be able to login.
To Downgrade Your Account, go to the "Billing Information" tab and click on the "Cancel My Gold Membership" button. This will
confirm your desire to downgrade your account at the end of your current billing cycle.
What is the Who's Online feature?
To use the Who's Online feature simply click on the "Who's
Online" button from any of the main pages. This will
generate a list of members who are currently using the system.
You will then be able to browse their profiles or send messages
to them as you normally would.
Why can't I connect to the ChatRoom?
You need to be running a Java-enabled browser in order to use chat. This means that you need to be running Netscape 3.01 or
higher or MSIE 3.02 or higher on UNIX, Mac, Windows 95 or Windows NT platforms. If you're running on Windows 3.1, there is a
version of Netscape 3.0 Beta for Windows 3.1 Java Enabled, but it is best to upgrade to Windows 95, since this version is very
slow.
NOTE: AOL and PRODIGY use only 16 bits regardless of what web browser you are using. If you are visiting us via AOL or
PRODIGY, you may not be able to access chat. WEBTV and SEGA TV do not support JAVA or more than one web frame. Chat requires
both.
Note! It may take a few minutes before the chat frame comes up if you are on a dialup connection.
How do I change my email address and/or Password?
You can change your password and/or email address from the "User Preferences" section of the web site. Simply change the
desired information and hit the yellow "Update" button at the bottom of the screen. You will need to re-login after you make
any changes.
I'm on AOL and when I try to signup it says that my email
address is already in use. How can I fix this?
This is usually caused by AOL feeding you a cached web page from another user. However, you can fix this by telling your
browser to look for newer versions of cached pages. In AOL, go to "Settings" and then "Preferences" and choose "Internet
Properties". Once the Internet Properties Dialog Box appears, click on the "Settings" button located in the middle under the
"Temporary Internet Files" heading. Make sure "Check for newer versions of stored pages" is set to "Automatically" or "Every
Visit to the Page". Then, click on "Apply" and "OK" and try to signup again. If you still have problems please call our
support department at 507-289-2229.
Why does it keep taking me back to the same
login screen after I login successfully?
Our login environment utilizes a feature where your login information is stored in a "cookie". To answer your question, your
browser is probably not
setup to accept cookies. To correct this in Internet Explorer 6x, go to "Tools" and then "Internet Options". Click on the
"Privacy" tab and then on the "Advanced" tab. In here, make sure that you have Session Cookies "Enabled" or "Always Allow"
them. Click "Apply" and then "OK" and then re-login to Club Rochester.
The chatroom say my nickname is already in use. Why is
that?
If you were in the chatroom recently and were unexpectly disconnected, it could be possible that the chatroom does not realize
that you are gone. Often times, it can take 10-15 minutes before the chat applet realizes you are gone and signs you
off. If this happens, we suggest you login with a similar nickname and wait until your real nickname gets logged off
automatically by the server. After your real nickname leaves the chatroom, you can log out and log back in with your normal
nickname.
I received the following error while sending a message, "You have attempted to
enter an email address or an instant messanger id into your message." Why is that?
As a FREE member, you are not allowed to send other members your real email address, instant messenger id, homepage, etc.
However,
once you have upgraded to a GOLD membership you can provide others with this information to enhance your ability to
communicate with them.
I upgraded to a Gold Membership and still don't
have access. What's going on?
This can be caused by one of the following things. 1) You pay by Cash/Check/Money Order and we have not yet
received your payment. 2) You pay via Credit Card and there is a problem processing your payment. Either of these
issues will cause your account to be "unauthorized" until payment is made. Please contact us for further information.
